Data that stays on your device

Most of what the app records is stored locally only, in the app's private storage, and we have no access to it:

• Prayer statistics: completed rosaries, streaks, history
• Prayer intentions and the notes you write
• Preferences: language, theme, vibration, audio voice and speed, bead colours, reminders
• Bookmarks and reading progress for the Bible and the Catechism
• A cache of downloaded texts and images, so the app works offline

Uninstalling the app or clearing its data deletes all of this permanently. There is no cloud backup on our side, so we cannot restore it either.

Diagnostic and usage data

The app uses a few Google Firebase services to understand how it is used and to fix failures. What is collected is anonymous or pseudonymous and is not linked to your identity.

Firebase Analytics

Aggregated usage events (which screens you open, which features you use). Alongside the events we transmit a pseudonymous installation identifier, the device model, the operating system version, the language and an approximate country derived from the IP address — not from GPS. We do not use this data for advertising profiling.

Firebase Crashlytics

If the app crashes, it sends the technical report needed to diagnose the problem: error type, stack trace, device model, app and OS versions. It never includes the content of your prayers, intentions or notes.

Firebase Remote Config

Downloads configuration parameters, for example the "update available" notice. It sends no personal data.

Permissions

Every permission is optional, is requested only when you first use the related feature, and can be revoked at any time from your device settings.

Location

Requested only by the Places Map, to centre the map on you and find places of worship nearby. Your coordinates are never sent to, or stored on, our servers — we operate no server for this.

To draw the map and list nearby churches, however, the app must query public map services: the coordinates of the area currently shown on screen are sent to the OpenStreetMap tile server and to the Overpass API (see section 4). Those services receive a geographic area and your IP address, but no identifier of yours and no account.

Notifications

Used only for the prayer reminders you set yourself. They are scheduled locally on the device: we send no push notifications and there are no promotional messages.

Third-party services and remote content

Some content is downloaded on demand. In those cases the provider necessarily sees your IP address and the request; we send no personal data of yours along with it.

• OpenStreetMap (tile.openstreetmap.org) — map tiles.
• Overpass API (overpass-api.de and public mirrors) — the search for places of worship within the area shown on the map.
• Evangelizo (feed.evangelizo.org) — daily Gospel and readings. Only the date and the language are sent.
• Calendarium API (calapi.inadiutorium.cz) — liturgical calendar and celebration of the day. Only the date and the language are sent. This service is only available over plain HTTP, so the request is not encrypted; it carries no personal data.
• Wikimedia Commons — images of saints and sacred art.
• Art Institute of Chicago (api.artic.edu) — public-domain sacred artworks.
• Google Firebase — see section 2.
• App Store and Google Play — distribution, updates and the "rate the app" prompt. The review is handled entirely by the store; we never see who left it.
• Google Maps — only if you tap "directions" for a place on the map, which hands the destination over to your maps app or browser.

ElevenLabs was used at development time only, to generate the narration voices. The audio files are pre-generated and bundled with the app: nothing is sent to ElevenLabs while you use it, and the audio plays offline.

The fonts used by the app are bundled in the package, so no request is made to Google Fonts.

Retention

Diagnostic data is kept on Google servers under Firebase's retention policy — as a rule up to 14 months for Analytics events and 90 days for crash reports — and is then deleted automatically. Data stored on your device is kept until you delete it or uninstall the app.

Children

The app is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect data from children. It has no social features, no chat and no user-generated content shared with others.

Your rights

• Revoke location or notification permission at any time from your device settings.
• Delete all local data by uninstalling the app or clearing its storage.
• Ask us to delete the diagnostic data associated with your installation by writing to the address below. Because the identifier is pseudonymous, we may need the details required to locate it.
• If you are in the EU or the UK, you also hold the rights granted by the GDPR: access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection.

Changes

We may update this policy when the app changes. The current version is always published at this address, with the date of the last update at the top of the page.
